About Miriam

Miriam Bellamy
The kind of therapy I practice is very different. It is based on the work of Murray Bowen who is the father of the field of marriage and family counseling. Current experts in this style and philosophy of therapy include well known authors David Schnarch (www.crucibletherapy.com) and Hal Runkel (www.screamfree.com).  The fundamental approach is to always speak to the best in people for it is always present even if it may be hidden behind all the conflict and blaming that all of us do in relationship. The therapy is solution focused and centers on the principle of personal responsibility, honesty and self-respect. I help couples and individuals stop reacting out of human nature to find ways to reach their human potential. The benefits are greater intimacy and partnership, a better more passionate sex life, calmer parenting, and increased satisfaction with life.

Check out my blog on this site as well as the articles I've written to get more of a sense of what this means in therapy in my office.

Miriam Bellamy, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has been in practice in the Roswell area for 13 years. She has been married 10 years, a parent of two daughters and a business owner and she understands very well the path to creating a meaningful life. She has dedicated her post-graduate training and experience to working with couples and adult individuals and has made human potential her area of expertise.

Some of the specialized training received by Miriam has been in the Passionate Marriage approach authored by Dr. David Schnarch and taught by Drs. Schnarch, Morehouse and Regas. The Passionate Marriage approach has found international popularity as it encourages humanity to reach its potential using normal marital difficulties as the spring board. It teaches that people can not only find resolution to their conflicts, but can also learn to flourish from them. She as attended 3 professional, intermediate level, multi-day workshops by these therapists.  She has not yet attended the advanced trainings in this approach. (For more information on this approach you can read Passionate Marriage or listen to the CD's entitled Secrets Of A Passionate Marriage, both by Dr. David Schnarch.)

"I want you to get the help that you need. I will work with you to the best of my ability. I also realize that every therapist is not for every couple or individual client. If you find that our work together is not helping, then I’m happy to assist you in finding the support you need."
